Levo® Credit Union Honors Veterans with Donation to Irreverent Warriors

Levo® donated $1,000 to Irreverent Warriors in honor of all veterans this Veterans Day. Irreverent Warriors seeks to address mental health concerns among veterans through informal gatherings, one-on-one time, community involvement, and camaraderie. Levo® learned about the need for donations through Levo® staff members who encouraged Irreverent Warriors to apply for the donation. A Veterans Committee helped choose the recipient of this year’s donation.

Gerrad Nelson, a Levo® employee and one of the veterans who helped select this year’s recipient, presented the check at War-Torn Cycles in Hartford. Nelson served in the SD Army National Guard from 1996 to 2002.

“It makes me feel great to work for an organization that believes in honoring our veterans,” says Nelson. “Personally I love being able to help people who have helped their country. They sacrificed for us and it’s only fair we give back to them.”

“On behalf of Irreverent Warriors, we are excited to accept this donation,” says Andrew Hahn, a veteran and a volunteer for Irreverent Warriors in Sioux Falls. “These funds go towards starting a Sioux Falls chapter of Irreverent Warriors to build a culture of comradeship amongst our Veterans and Vet-supporting organizations to provide not just a place to go but a community to be involved in, where we can recognize in each other when someone is down in the pit, and to get down in there with them and pull them forward to get the help and resources they need."

“Levo® is grateful to be able to serve those who served us, and this is such a wonderful organization that serves a big need,” says Nelson. “We have always strongly supported veterans’ causes. We serve a lot of members who are veterans and our Air Guard Branch used to be the Air Guard Credit Union before merging with us many years ago.”
